Fermentation Scientist/Engineer

We are looking for a Fermentation Scientist/Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a Ph. D. in Bio/Chemical Engineering, Microbiology or related field and with at least 1-2 years of experience in an industrial setting (e.g. biopharma, industrial biotechnology) involving fermentation operations including seed train, fermentation, centrifugation, and MF. The candidate is expected to plan, design, and execute fermentation process development and optimization experimental plans. Desired expertise should include design of experiments, data analysis, modeling, technology transfer, and scale up of fermentation processes for microbial strains, e.g. yeast and filamentous fungi. Successful candidates will be working on the development of our recombinant egg-white protein production processes.

Product Manager

We are looking for a Product Manager to develop and execute Clara’s go-to-market strategy for its first protein-based product. The comprehensive go-to-market strategy will include product positioning, branding, competitive analysis for protein-based products, as well as every other aspect of launching B2B and B2C products. You will also help inform Clara’s future product pipeline, and play a critical role in shaping the company. This position will interface directly with the CEO.

Principal Process Development Engineer

We are looking for a Principal Process Development Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a Ph. D. and at least 10 years, M. Sc. and at least 12 years, or B. Sc. and at least 15 years experience in an industrial setting (e.g. biopharma, industrial biotechnology) involving fermentation and downstream operations including seed train, fermentation, centrifugation, MF, UF/DF, chromatography, lyophilization, and spray drying. The candidate must have expertise in project management, bioprocess development, technology transfer, scale up, and management of CMOs. The Principal Process Development Engineer is expected to plan, manage and execute bioprocess development and optimization projects for microbial strains, e.g. yeast and filamentous fungi. This engineer will also lead process development projects for technology transfer, scale up, and production through demonstration and commercial scale at contract development and toll manufacturing organizations. This position will include extensive travel. Expertise should also include statistical design of experiments, data analysis, and process economics modeling.

Analytical Protein Chemist, Strain Engineering

We are looking for an Analytical Protein Chemist to join our Strain Engineering Team. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in protein chemistry, biochemistry or similar program and have 5 to 10 years of experience in an industrial setting (e.g. industrial biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, food chemistry) or recently obtained a Ph.D. in the one of these areas.  We are looking for someone skilled in standard protein and small molecule separation and characterization techniques (e.g. SDS-PAGE, capillary electrophoresis, enzymology, NMR, CD, UV/Vis/Fluorescence spectroscopy, HPLC, LC/GC-MS).  The successful candidate will serve a cross-department role, providing analytics support for strain engineering and the product and process development teams, and coordinating protein analytics outsourcing with collaborating laboratories.  This person is expected to function well within a team setting, be able to complete tasks on time and communicate well.
